BP4078: >400W RMS / 4 Ohm Hi-Fi class D amplifier module

Up to 400W RMS at 4 ohms, depending on power supply voltage. This amplifier produces true hi-end sound and is ready to be assembled into any audio amplifier system, needing only a suitable power supply and the audio input/output.

  • Class-D topology with natural sampling pulse-width-modulation (PWM)
  • High efficiency (>93%)
  • Global feedback technology and fixed switching frequency
  • Output power: Up to 400W rms at 4 ohms and 0.1% THD (bridgeable: 800W/8ohm)
  • THD: <0.02%, (1KHz, 1W, 5ohm)
  • Noise level: 50uV rms unweighted
  • Bandwidth: 7.6Hz to 30KHz, 8 ohms, -3dB
BP4078RoHS compliant

Features

This module features small size (95x75x39mm) and only 186 gr., that eases its integration into 19" 1U racks (around 40mm high).
Nevertheless, BP4078 includes several onboard protection systems and another characteristics that ensure its high reliability and flexibility of use:

  • Single (but symmetric) power supply, from +/-35V to +/-65V
  • Overcurrent protection (latched for 2 secs)
  • Undervoltage shutdown (latched for 2 secs)
  • Overvoltage shutdown
  • Almost silent power on/off
  • Clipping LED indication
  • Balanced input, also usable for bridging two modules for higher power without needing additional components.
  • Volume potentiometer header after balanced input preamplifier for ease of connection
  • Remote, TTL compatible turn on / stdby input
  • Global feedback loop including main output filter, reducing distortion and making freq. response almost independent of load impedance
  • Main filter made with high current toroidal coil.
  • RF post-filter for excellent carrier suppresion
  • Fully synchronous design that allows synchronisation: an easy solution to the potential "whistles" produced when several power stages are in close proximity.
  • Aluminium chassis that makes BP4078 a robust and module and also acts as heatsink, so additional cooling needs are very small for most uses.
  • Onboard temperature sensor with external connection in order to ease implementation of an optional temperature management system (see appnotes).
  • Includes input wire with connector
