Product Description

SPS80HV is a fully regulated AC/DC switching power supply designed to feed high power audio amplifiers for HiFi or multichannel, sound reinforcement, live sound, active speakers, PA amplifiers, etc. The continuous power rating is 800W (with proper forced cooling) but the peak power delivery is above 1300W. Its design has been optimized for power capability, upmost reliability and low noise for true high-end performance.

The AC input can be selected in two ranges to cover worldwide mains: 90 to 120VAC and 200 to 240VAC, 50 to 400Hz, switch selectable. Output voltage can be finely adjusted and selected within two ranges (+/-60 to +/-73 and +/-72 to +/-85V, aprox). Other voltages are available on request with no additional cost (see SPS80 , the lower voltage version.

As opposed to most linear PSUs and some switching PSUs in the market, the output is automatically held constant regardless on load and supply voltage variations, providing constant power capability and eliminating the risk of burning the amplifiers under the normal mains variations and surges. Unlike most switching PSUs, the SPS80 huge output capacitance provides an inmediate current reservoir that helps providing deep bass at very high power levels.

It also has an auxiliary, isolated and fully regulated +/-12V output (+/-15V on request) up to 200mA aprox, designed to power preamplifiers, etc. without the need of an additional power supply.

Bulky toroidal transformers are no longer needed, what supposes an spectacular reduction in system's size and weight, and the possibility of including several high power channels in a 19" 2U rack. (SPS80HV is 53mm high, as opposed to standard SPS80 that is 41mm high). It also eliminates the need for inrush limiting circuits, filters, etc. as everything is included into the PSU itself. You only need to plug the mains in and take the output.
